Kirsten Dunst is a young actor whose career has been simmering for a very long time and is beginning to come to boil. Unlike many other actors and actresses, who don’t really find their feet in the profession for a number of years into adulthood, Kirsten was a child actress and was starring in films, almost from birth (she played Lisa’s daughter in the 1989 film ‘New York Stories’). Her first major success was in the film ‘Interview With the Vampire’, in which she played the role of Claudia and, in doing so, won 3 awards (Boston Society of Film Critics Award for Best Supporting Actress, Chicago Film Critics Association Award for Most Promising Actress and, MTV Movie Award for Best Breakthrough Performance). She was also nominated for 3 further awards including a Golden Globe for the Best Supporting Actress.
From then on, she achieved success in many other films, including ‘Jumanji’ starring Robbie Williams. However, the transition from child protege to adult star was not easy and Kirsten found herself in a bit of acting limbo; having to make do with minor roles in films and starring every so often in television programs. Her career really began to take off once more when she was cast for the role of Mary Jane in the Spider Man trilogy. This was her first blockbuster in her adult career and she has gone from strength to strength after this. She is currently filming ‘Melancholia’, a drama written and directed by Lars von Trier.
